Quick Overview

The Gaggia Classic Pro is a high-quality espresso machine that is great for anyone who is looking to getting into making espresso from home or wants a reliable espresso machine that is affordable and doesn’t need all of the bells and whistles you will find with other, more expensive espresso machines.

The Gaggia Classic Pro comes with various features such as a commercial-style steam wand, commercial-style portafilter, stainless steel frame, filter baskets, etc.

Overall, we highly recommend the Gaggia Classic Pro and are very impressed by this machine.

Key Features

Commercial Steam Wand

It has a commercial-grade steam wand that gives you full control of steaming and frothing your milk. It also rotates, moves, and is easy to use.

Commercial Style Portafilter

The Gaggia Classic Pro has a durable chrome-plated brass 58 mm portafilter which is the same style and size as the commercial espresso machines you would find in your local coffee shop.

Filter Baskets

You’ll be able to get consistent shot quality and a thick layer of crema out of any coffee you use with the pressurized basket. You can also use the commercial basket to get a real commercial espresso.

Updated Frame

The frame of this espresso machine is made out of stainless steel and has recently been redesigned for a more sleek look as well as making access to the water reservoir easy.

Pump Mounts

It also has a vibration pump that is positioned to reduce the sound that is created when the machine is brewing. You’ll be able to brew delicious espresso without very much noise.

3-Way Solenoid Valve

The 3-way solenoid valve is usually found on most commercial espresso machines. This feature relieves pressure off of the coffee which results in a dry, easy to discard puck. This makes for an easy clean-up.

Heats Up Quickly

It has dual heating that heats the boiler in the espresso machine. As a result, you will be able to pull an espresso shot in just about 5 minutes and steam milk in 30 seconds. This is considerably faster than most espresso machines.

Pros & Cons

What We Like

Professional Quality

This machine was designed to bring a professional-style espresso machine into your house. Since most people don’t buy a commercial espresso machine to use at home, this one is made with professional quality materials but is perfect for home use.

We really like that Gaggia put in the effort to mimic similar features that you would find on a regular commercial-grade espresso machine. Such as the commercial-style steam wand, commercial-style portafilter, and the 3-Way Solenoid Valve feature.

High-Quality

We also like that the Gaggia Classic Pro is made out of high-quality materials and is clearly built to last. Its frame is made out of stainless steel and it features commercial-grade materials for the various features we previously mentioned.

Quieter

We also really like that this machine features pump mounts that reduce the amount of sound that is made while you’re making espresso.

Espresso machines can be quite noisy and since this one has a lot of power which would mean a lot of noise, we really like that Gaggia included this feature to reduce some of the loud noise created from brewing.

Quick Heating

Another thing we like about the Gaggia Classic Pro is it heats fast. Most other espresso machines can take close to 10 minutes to heat up.

However, due to the dual heating elements in this machine, it can heat the boiler in just 5 minutes so you’re ready to start brewing. It can also make your steam ready in 30 quick seconds.

What Can Be Improved

More Distance Between Filter and Drip Tray

A few people have complained about the inability to fit a mug underneath the filter to have the espresso empty into. You will only be able to fit an espresso cup.

So if you know you are going to be unhappy not being able to place a mug underneath the filter, then this may not be the machine for you!

Who Is This Product Best For?

The Gaggia Classic Pro is a great entry-level espresso machine for anyone who is looking for a high-quality espresso machine and doesn’t need all the bells and whistles.

Final Verdict

We think the Gaggia Classic Pro is a solid espresso machine and one we recommend. It’s perfect for beginners and those looking for a basic espresso machine.

It has the added benefit of commercially designed parts and features as well as being made out of high-quality materials that make it a real winner for us. It’s clear this machine is built to last a long time and, of course, it brews damn good espresso.
